Procedure and Fees

There are many talented portrait artists out there who have been doing this professionally for years. Some charge as little as $700 per portrait, and some charge around $20,000 per portrait. It all depends on what you like and the artist’s style and quality.

Since I am just beginning to offer portraits professionally, I am keeping my fees at a reduced rate for the next year. In addition, if you don’t like the portrait after I am done, you don’t have to purchase it, and I will use it for my portfolio. (Although my goal is to make sure that you love it, so hopefully that won’t happen!) The portraits are head and shoulder portraits, and it will take about 2 months from the time that I start the portrait for you to receive the finished portrait.

One of the things I try to give the most attention to in my portraits is the eyes. It is said that the eyes are the windows of our soul, and when I create a portrait, I try to bring out the personality and the emotion from the photo into the portrait. I also pay close attention to the specific anatomy of the face and every detail and measurement as it looks against the lighting in the portrait. As time progresses, I hope to get even more detailed than I am now.

Currently, I work from photographs and not live models. This will change in time, but for now it is easier for everyone involved to paint from photographs. (It’s hard for anyone to sit still for 3 hours!) I will ask you to send several photographs of the person you want a portrait of. It is always best if it comes from a professional photograph because the lighting and composition is always best.

If you would like more information about my discounted portrait fees, please contact me and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
